Hi john99andrew, that is a bit more helpful but as I have no idea how many cubic metres I will be moving it still leaves me in the dark. All I want is a couple of people to tell me what it actually cost them to move. It's not rocket science. If someone tells me it cost them €2.000 to move a two bed house and another tells me it cost €5.000 to move a four bed house I would have a clue as to what it would cost me. I am sorry if I am going on a bit but I just want a figure not a cubic metre rate or anything else just a number!

Hi Pamela,

How much did it cost for the 2 containers? I am moving out to Oria in June/July and I am on a tight budget so need to factor in the removals cost.

Hi

I think for two containers we were quoted £1850. Each container holds 7 cu metres or 259 cu ft. Location Location are based at Antas and also have a depot at March, Cambs in the Uk.

I emailed a list of items and Katrina was able to quote on that. They need to know roughly how many boxes so I thought around 40 but ended with nearly 60. It’s amazing when you come to pack how many boxes you need. We were fortunate to have boxes otherwise I think boxes and packing is in addition. I then kept finding things and she was very flexible; she put by 3 containers for us and if we only needed 2 then that’s what we would have paid however we did needed the third container, I think we paid £2500-2750. I would suggest emailing her and she will be able to give you a quote as to some idea of cost.

We  contacted Fred Phillips initially but I think they wanted £1500 per container and needed to come to property to assess.

Matthew James also came out and were excellent and quoted £2500 including supplying boxes and white wrapping paper. I don’t have their quote anymore so I can’t tell you what capacity that covered.

I would suggest getting phoning or emailing the above companies with uour requirements and they should be able to give you some idea.

Hope that helps

Just read a few previous replies. I know how you feel about cubic metre/foot as I had no idea either but once I emails across what we were taking, they could give an idea. On top of the boxes, we also had a variety of other items like tv, beds etc (we didn’t take sofas) which is difficult to condense. I appreciate your frustration but as I have found out the removal companies are very good in guiding you as we are all novices and they are the professionals. Good luck and enjoy, we have no regrets in coming out here.

Hi,  Karl, partner had most of her 3 bed 1 bath house in Saffron Walden shipped down to Urcal near Huercal Overa where coincidentally Jimbo the Scot is based, last March 2017.

We stored all the stuff we were bringing in a self store in Cambridge, it was all picked up and put in store whilst a shipping company they sub contracted to made up the rest of the shipment then delivered it all safe and sound to us here. We didnt realise that when the original shippers took the stuff out of store and into large wooden boxes that it would all then subsequently be taken out of said boxes/crates and stacked in the rear trailer, I got the shock of my life when the back doors were swung open and our 48" curved screen tv was literally held in mid space by a bunch od cotton straps lol, everything was intact, nothing broken apart from one small wine glass. I'd nonetheless recommend both shippers.

It was explained at the time that partners shipment would be classed as a part load yet it still cost £3500.

The trucks used were a rigid flat bed towing a large box trailer which held all partners stuff.

She didnt bring wardrobes as her villa has built ins in two of the 3 bedrooms but most everything else came down inc' new beds, mattresses etc.

There are quite a few shippers who advertise in the free papers and magazines here, be aware that a shipping container may be lying in a yard somewhere till the company you choose consolidate a load that will be of financial benefit to them, not necessarly you.

There are companies you can hire a long wheelbase Mercedes Sprinter from and do one way trips, usually they have depots in Murcia, you load up at your convenience, drive down at your pace, drop your stuff and drop the van, all you need worry about really is getting from Murcia to your new place.

Jimbo the Scot is based here in Urcal and is a genuine guy who has/had a flat bed box van/truck but I've not seen it since before Christmas, just a transit type vehicle and a trailer.

Hope this helps some. Use the £3500 as a top range figure if you've only got what you think is a 7.5 ton or 20ft container.

What I will strongly recommend is that you bring down everything you regard as a tool, from garden stuff right up to whatever it is you've got. Tools can be expensive here, you can charge cordless drills etc here no problem, most plugs and sockets are two pin, no earth, we brought down two english 3 pin towers we got from Argos that we power tv sound bars printers microwaves etc but which we're slowly putting Spanish plugs on to. Check for outside sockets, that work and/or install them on all your outside walls etc, you never know when you might need extra power.

Easy maintenance yards/gardens still need weeding lol.

Hope this helps,

I would just say that I hadn’t thought of sharing loads until Location mentioned that our containers would not be shared with anyone else and exclusive to us. I would be very worried if I had to share a load due to security etc. but it depends on budget. Our containers arrived, they were as they had left our house in England. Due to constraints of access in Spain, Location delivers two complete containers in a lorry with the third container unpacked and delivered in a Luton van. The guys were excellent.  Prior to this, our containers were securely stored at their depot in the UK until we were ready for them to be delivered to Spain.

Hi Karl. We used a man with a van to move over, 4 years ago, he does monthly trips we have used him for smaller consignments since minimum is 4 cubic meter. Cambridgeshire to Puerto Lumbreras, Murcia. He charges £100 per cubic metre. We boxed, wrapped everything ourselves.  Everything arrived safe and sound. Our initial move was 17 cubic metres which included a range cooker, washing machine, American fridge freezer, huge sofas 3 beds, bedroom furniture etc. Hope this helps.
