I'm travelling to Spain this weekend but cannot get travel insurance can I buy travel insurance in Spain for a UK resident

I always thought that if the Foreign Office issued a do not travel to a country warning that your travel/medical insurance was invalid.

You can purchase health insurance, but I don’t believe you can purchase travel insurance to cover you in the country of purchase.
If you purchase a ticket with Visa / MasterCard, that normally automatically gives travel insurance - or at least it used to.

Jason123, see Jacksie’s most recent reply here which I think answers your question - it appears you would need to take out insurance here whilst still in UK at least 28 days before travel.
