Hi Guys, I wonder if anyone could give me any info on S1 forms from the UK and how to register onto the health system here in Albox. my wife and I are both retired and have just received S1 forms from the UK. correct me if I am wrong? but we have been told that we will need these documents first: up to date Padron, NIE, Passport, the UK S1 Form, and Spanish Green Card of residency.  once we have all these documents we need to go along to the Heath Registration office in Huercal Overa and it's best to arrive before 9 am. can anyone tell me where in Huercal Overa this office is?  we don't speak Spanish do we need to take a translator with us?  we do use Google Translate which helps a lot !! we will be given a document at this office which we then take to Albox Hospital they will then give us a document that we need to take to the doctors to register onto there books. and we get the medical card in about one month from doing all of the above.

can we register at any doctors? or will we need to be doctors in our village or town? as ideally would try and find an English speaking doctor?

we would be most grateful for any extra information that we guys can give us so as to make this a smooth as possible exercise lol thx.

Hi, firstly I would employ the services of a reliable translator who knows the Spanish system.

You need to have an appointment for the Social Security office in Huercal Overa. It is located, coming from the Albox area, Lidl on the right, next roundabout straight on and it’s on your immediate right.

You will be registered to the medical centre in your town/village and will without doubt need a translator for doctors appointment, especially the first one to see how the land lies.

Please don’t rely on google translate for a doctor appointment. Not safe or wise.

Hi Cj

I just took all my docs ( same as yours ) to the Doc in Turre. They did the rest. Gave me a temporary piece of paper so I could get my prescription. Card arrived 3 weeks later. Seemed very simple. Maybe worth a try just going to your doc to begin with. I use translator too but fortunately I understand just enough Spanish though.

regards

Hi Leon

Sorry to hear that

Granted the guy on reception is not the most helpful of people but I do appreciate he is disabled. He did fill out all my forms for me.  I must say, I did mine some time ago and so possibly Covid has made things more difficult.

You will need resedencia firs if you haven't got that yet my advise would be to go to mario is office is just a little lower down the road from where the Gaurdia is in Albox on the other side of the road to Gaurdia he as an office there, he will arrange it for you, we found him very good and he speeks good English
