Hi Diane,

Spanish tap water is actually fine from a safety point of view.....it just doesn’t taste very nice.  It has a lot of purifying chemicals in it and the high mineral content of tap water in this particular area means that a lot of people just don’t like the taste, but if you simply leave a jug of water to stand until the cloudiness dissipates, it will get rid of a lot of the chlorine taste.  Personally, I use a water filter on tap water for cooking and our food tastes fine but I use bottled water for the kettle and drinking/cleaning teeth.  Regarding discarding plastic bottles, we recently found a local tap from which we can draw free spring water, so now we just take a bioplastic big container there to fill it up for free, which is better than using bottles and spending money!  Best of all worlds!  Hope this helps you, Diane!

Warm regards,

Chrissie
