👋 Hello Albox!

My husband, our two children and I are moving to the Albox area next month, and we're really looking forward to becoming part of the community.

My husband has been a professional window cleaner in the UK for over 20 years and is hoping to start building a small, reliable window cleaning round in Albox.

If you, or someone you know, would be interested in regular window cleaning, we'd love to hear from you.

He also offers:

🪟 Window cleaning
🔧 General handyman services
🏡 Property maintenance
🪛 Small repairs and odd jobs
🖌️ Decorating and painting
🚿 Gutter clearing and pressure washing
🏠 Holiday home checks and general property care

As for me, I run my own digital marketing agency and can help local businesses with: 💻 Websites
📱 Social media management
🎨 Graphic design and branding
📈 SEO (Google rankings)
📧 Email marketing
🤖 AI automation for businesses
📝 Content writing, brochures, flyers and marketing materials

We're a hardworking family making an exciting new start in Spain and would love to meet people in the area And integrate.

If you'd be interested in window cleaning, property maintenance, digital marketing, or just want to say hello, please send me a message.

We can't wait to become part of the Albox community! 🇪🇸☀️

My first question would have to be … do you both have work rights in Spain? Looking at your skill set I imagine you are coming over on a DNV; that would automatically grant your partner a work permit as well.

Before even thinking of starting work, he (and you) will have to register as Autónomo and pay the monthly cuota.  I believe in Andalusia they are still giving two years reduced rate

AHA!! That’s the difficult stage completed - you will have to register as Autónomo though and that can be a bureaucratic nightmare - get a VERY good Asesor / Gestor to guide you through the jungle.

Please don’t be tempted to just fly under the radar and “do cash jobs” to avoid the hassle (and expense) of going Autónomo because AEAT (tax) and TGSS (social security) are REALLY clamping down and the fines are monstrous

Post heading " British couple looking for work"  and further in " we have irish passports"

Contradiction in terms.

I have seen the figures from the irish passport office showing how many have become plastic paddys since brexit. Not sure i would switch nationality no matter what the reason. But look them is the rules and so be it. Best of look with your move and job hunting.

We haven’t switched nationality. The UK and Ireland both permit dual citizenship, so we remain British and am also legally Irish through my family ancestry. My Irish passport doesn’t erase where we was born or raised. We never voted for brexit so we are so grateful to have this option and proud of our heritage too. The UK has gone down the pan majorly and im so grateful we have a way to get out to allow us to bring our children up in a better culture and environment in Spain.

Not sure I agree with the term ''plastic paddy'' but there's no surprise, me and Dropsy not seeing eye to eye. I know it's kinda a generic terms used but I have never liked it.

Sounds derogatory to me.

I do disagree with the gov, Irish that is, just giving away citizenships with out some kind of test. Yes if  born in the country to a foreign national but outside Ireland I'm not sure. Is the rule same for English people not born within the UK?

I chose  to surrender my Irish citizenship to become an American citizen work I in a city job in New York.

I had to take the U.S. Naturalization Test, which has two parts: an English language test (speaking, reading, and writing) and a civics test on U.S. history and government.

Not a an onerous test for me as I went through the American educational system but still a requirement for any foreign born person so some study is involved.

I wonder how many ''plastic paddy's'' as they are called could pass a basic Irish civics and geography exam

We'll leave Gaelic as a launage requirement as few Irish natives would pass one of those 😜.

To get my Irish citizenship back I had to, technically, give up the American as the yanks don't like dual citizenship.

''I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of ....blah blah blah''

Basically surrender my passport and like every Joe or Jill Lunchbox when visiting the states I would require an ESTA.
