Hi, if coming to rent on a permanent basis ie. needing residencia then it is 5,500 euros for a single person or 8,700 euros for a married couple. However with Brexit looming it may change (possibly by 31st Jan 2020).  If not expecting to stay in Spain permanently then there are no rules as to finance however again with Brexit looming it may be that a visa is required for a set number of months stay and a trip across a border or back to UK to renew the visa on a regular basis. Unknown situation at the moment but am sure there will be ways and means.  Don't be put off, go for it  :)

If you arrive and register your residency application before December 2020 the same (present) finance requirements will apply.

After the Transition period ends (31.12.20) the requirements will quadruple and be the same as for residents from other ‘third countries’ (countries no longer in the EU or the EEA).

For those who arrive after 2020 the income requirements for U.K. citizens will quadruple. For those applying for residency.

After the Transition Period ends. Why? Because the U.K. will be a non-EU country after the Transition Period ends.

The income requirements for non-EU countries (Americans, Russians, Ukrainians, etc) are approx four times those for EU nations.

This has been stated many times: on this forum, on the Moncloa Spanish govt website, on the U.K. govt website, also by the British consul in Spain at visits to expat meetings around the country.
