Hi,

Can anybody recommend a car hire firm based at or near Alicante airport. We have got family arriving in September and they require a 7 seater. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Hi Paddy & Di.

There is a wide variety of companies serving Alicante airport. I DON'T like Goldcar - full to empty fuel policy etc.

Hi,

Agree with comment about Goldcar. Son in law charged 60€ for fuel when he had religiously filled it. Another poster had 600€ taken from CC for.windscreen chip. There have also been comments about Goldcar staff hardselling Insurance.

Whatever Company you use make sure that on collection you photograph every panel incl roof & windscreen.

Hi

We always use RecordGo and they are very good with no hidden extras and very prompt at returning the fuel fee and deposit they take. It’s worth taking out an excess insurance policy, which is usually around £25, in the UK to cover the hire period and this will avoid having to pay the huge excess fee that all hire companies charge.

Centauro are always very good and usually have 7-seaters. We only ever use their Premium Plan fro Murcia and Alicante; more expensive than others but nothing blocked off the card, extra driver at no cost, and they only charge for a tank of fuel which is refunded the same day the car is returned full.

I have always  found La Manga carhire offer a fantastic service. Both in terms of service and cars.

Thete are No hidden extras or hard up sell!!

We confidently  recommend them to all our guest who rent our Mojacar apartments .

They opperate out of Alicante and Murcia / san Juan  hope this helps .

Having been ripped off by a couple of car hire firms at Alicante airport, I now only book  full to full car hire arrangements with Centaura through Argus Hire.

Their prices are more expensive than the headline prices from the rip off companies, but at least I know that I am not going to face any hidden costs. This is important to me because I have arranged my own annual excess insurance policy. However, Centaura do make a 1000 euro plus reservation against your credit card if you dont take out their own excess insurance policy.

I normally make about 5 bookings a year with Centaura and so far have had no problems with them.

Hi

I should have pointed out La Manga Car hire don't charge for scratches etc...or draw down  €1000. Damage deposit on your credit card!

I recently paid € 350.00 for an automatic Renault Megane one week rental. Full/ full tank free second driver. I chose to pay a little extra for windscreen cover. But I asked...it wasnt being pushed on me.

It is so refreshing when the quote you first receive is actually what you are asked to pay when you pick up the car!

I have become tired of the Excess then No excess then all companies going back to Excess at the same time!

Independent companies like La Manga need support to continue to provide their excellent customer service and reasonable rates .

I am not in any way affiliated to them. But I have  been delighted with their service to me and all my Mojacar rental guests over the years who have never had any complaint.
