Hi

We are coming to Arboleas permanently to live and we will bring our cat and dog. I have real concerns about protecting my dog against leishmaniasis. I understand that a local vet can fit a special collar but my friend who has lived in Spain many years lost her three year old dog to leishmaniasis even though the dotg had a collar. Any thoughts on the innoculation that is available.

Get your dog vaccinated in the uk before you come. It’s not cheap. You need rabies in the passport as well.

Get dog inoculated against Leish as soon as you arrive otherwise you will have to have blood test. You can order scalibor collar on line and fit 1 week b4 arriving.here

Nexo vets Albox are great

Hi, Nothing is 100% for Leish, I have lived here for many years and have 9 dogs, so they wear a Seresto Collar from March thru to November. If you buy a scalibor you will have to buy 2 as they only last 6 months, Seresto last 9 months. Nexo is a good vet but very expensive, a better option is ABC in Zurgena 950 44 90 64, Maria the receptionist speaks English so do all the vets. Hope this helps. Jenni
