My husband and I have just bought a villa in Mojacar something we have wanted to do for a long time we have sold our house and will be heading over in the summer.

Ive suddenly become really scared in case we don't find it easy to fit in how do you go about meeting and making friends. we have been visiting Mojacar for p 6or 7 yrs and have always found people really really chatty and friendly think I might just be overthinking things as it's a permanent move. Would also love to know if anyone else felt the same before moving. Sue

hi Sue.  those people you met over the years you have been coming here will not have disappeared and you will meet and make many more friends once you are here.  You can take part in the activities that are available which will all return when the dreaded Covid is defeated.  Learn Spanish, do art, join the local library, walking group, Ladies in Mojacar or volunteer for the various charity shop work.  All ways to meet and make friends as well of course as the cafes and bars for the daily banter of normal life.

you will soon settle in and the life change will be one of the best things you have ever done good luck and welcome.

Hi Alicia thanks for getting back to me. How have you lived in Mojacar were you nervous before you made the move I'm trying to figure out why I'm feeling this way and if it's normal

Hi it's a perfectly normal feeling to have, just like changing schools when younger or moving towns at home, actually changing schools was probably worse.

Although I only visit Mojacar now it is an incredibly friendly place to live and as Alicia says those people you have met will still be there and an even better friendship will bloom as you are there full time.

the town hall put loads of things on so check their lists(post Covid of course).

Perhaps after Covid people that are there full time that are on this forum could start a monthly meet up, we had 1 on the old CA forum and it was very good with perhaps 20 people meeting up for lunch not only in Mojacar but further afield

HI Sue

If you like to sew you can always join the Picante Quilting Club.  We meet on the first Thursday of the month at Scotty's and are a very friendly bunch. If you would like more details, send me a private email.

Thanks Dan although I've been to Mojacar quite a few times this just kinda feels more of a big deal so it's great to get good feedback from the likes of yourself and others who have taken time out to reply.

Where about is the Cave Bar not sure if ive come across it at all  Sue

do you think after the wearing of masks is over there will be an abundance of fabric masks used to make colourful quilts to remind us what we all went through?
